Claire J. Dandeneau, 65, passed away at Beacon Ridge on September 14, 2024.
She was born on April 13, 1959, to Joseph and Leona (St. Pierre) Dandeneau in Providence, Rhode Island.
Claire received a doctorate in Counseling from Perdue University and was a Professor at the Indiana University of Pennsylvania where she chaired the Counseling Department. She had previously led the John De La Howe school in South Carolina and provided counseling for adolescents at camps in Texas. Claire was a woman that loved the outdoors and found her permanent home in Penn Run. She often went hiking and kayaking. She loved to laugh, and her laugh was contagious. She adored her dog Abbie, and her cats Carmel and Ziggy.
She is survived by two brothers; Denis (Suzanne) Dandeneau of Charlotte, NC, and Ernest (Lorraine) Dandeneau of Easley, SC; a sister-in-law, Mary (Edmond) Dandeneau of Centerville, OH; a brother-in-law, Richard (Jeanne) Willis of Gainesville, VA; nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews; and great-great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Edmond Dandeneau, and sister Jeanne (Dandeneau) Willis.
Friends and family are welcome on October 12 from 12:00 PM until the time of the remembrance at 2:00 PM at Lefdahl Funeral Home, 898 Old Highway 119 N., Indiana, PA. 15701.
