August is National Wellness Month, and the American Red Cross is encouraging people to boost their own health while helping save lives by donating blood or platelets.
Donors of all blood types are needed — especially type O positive and B negative — and in August, the Red Cross is offering a free A1C screening for anyone who makes a successful donation. The test, used to check for prediabetes or diabetes, doesn’t require fasting, and results will be available within two weeks. Routine changes like back-to-school plans and vacations can reduce turnout, but patients can’t wait. Those who donate between August 1st and 28th will also get a $15 e-gift card.
