State Police from the Punxsutawney Barracks have released details on a crash in Canoe Township over the weekend. Troopers say the crash happened at 3:00 AM on Saturday, November 30th on Smyerstown Road just north of Buffalo Lodge Road. The driver, who was not identified, had drifted off the road and hit a Verizon utility pole. He was able to drive away from the scene and reported the incident later to state police. The driver said that he was driving to his camp when he hit a deer, and the back end of his vehicle kicked out and hit the utility pole. Police found no evidence of a deer struck at the scene. Verizon was notified about the utility pole.
State Police from Punxsutawney are investigating a theft in North Mahoning Township between November 21st and the 23rd. Troopers say during that time, someone broke into a barn on the property owned by a 67-year-old Reynoldsville man and made off with $4000 worth of rubber-enclosed copper wire. The investigation is ongoing.
