State police have released more information on the crash Sunday afternoon near Elderton that shut down a portion of Route 422.
Troopers were on the scene along with Elderton and other fire departments from Indiana and Armstrong Counties for the crash at 3:56 PM on 422 near Steffy Drive in Plum Creek Township. Preliminary findings indicated that a vehicle headed east made contact with another motorist before crossing the center line and hitting a westbound vehicle head-on. A fourth vehicle was also involved in the collision.
The drivers were sent to UPMC Presbyterian for treatment of serious injuries. Their identities were not released.
Police are looking for a vehicle of interest seen in the immediate vicinity at the time. The vehicle was described as a white or silver pickup with a crew cab, possibly a Ford, which was seen east before turning around and leaving the scene just after impact.
