A fire was quickly put out this morning at the former site of the Homer City Generating Station.
Indiana County 911 reported the call at 8:01 AM and sent Coral-Graceton, Homer City, Indiana, Blairsville, Black Lick, Aultman and Iselin/West Lebanon fire departments, the county rapid intervention team and Citizens Ambulance. Evan Bertig with the Coral-Graceton fire department said employees were working on some scrap when the fire started.
Work crews were able to use water from on-site tankers to put the fire out. No word on the extent of the damage. Coral-Graceton and Homer City firefighters arrived but then sent the other departments back after finding the fire was out.
