The Pirates loaded their lineup with young prospects on Saturday and they delivered a 5-3 win over Detroit, stopping a three-game Grapefruit League losing streak.
Esmerlyn Valdez, Termarr Johnson, and Yordanny Ramirez all drove in runs for the Pirates, who collected nine hits by nine different players. Hunter Barco started and gave up three runs in three innings, all of the runs scoring in the third. Thomas Harrington picked up a rare four-inning save.
The Pirates will take on the Red Sox in Bradenton today with right-hander Carmen Mlodzinski on the mound for the Bucs. It airs on WCCS at 1 PM.
