Indiana Borough Council will meet on April 7th and has scheduled a vote on the 2026 Fee Resolution, which includes a proposed increase in the residential recycling fee. The fee will rise from a dollar to three dollars effective May 1st.
The increase would help allay the cost of the new satellite recycling bin and changing market conditions, with revenue from recyclable materials declining. The borough is also adding a new drop-off container for cardboard, to be delivered in April and be located at the Borough Building.
Indiana residents who use auto-pay will need to update their payment amount. The fee applies to borough residents who receive municipal waste and recycling services.
The borough has also made changes to utility bills, to create a separate arrears account, which will be noted on your bill. All payments will be applied to arrears before they can be used to pay current fees.
