A motions hearing is scheduled today for Reed Tantlinger, who is charged with homicide by vehicle while DUI and other crimes for an incident on January 7th of 2023.
The 24-year-old Homer City man reportedly drove a pickup truck on Route 422 at speeds of more than 100 miles an hour when he illegally passed a vehicle in front of him and rear-ended a sports car driven by 25-year-old Hunter McCloskey. The impact pushed McCloskey’s car into several boulders and a utility pole on the side of the road. Authorities said Tantlinger fled the scene on foot but was later apprehended at a friend’s house.
In May of last year, he pleaded guilty to a single count of Homicide by Vehicle while DUI, but that plea was withdrawn on October 31st. He also faces charges of accidents where the victim dies, two counts of DUI-controlled substance, third-degree murder and seven summary driving counts. Today’s hearing will concern a motion to compel an expert report. Jury selection is scheduled for May 18th.
