Evelyn (Flanjack) Fister, 82 of Indiana, died Wednesday, April 29, 2026 at Beacon Ridge
Nursing Home, Indiana. Born in Dixonville, October 29, 1943, she was a daughter of the
late Nicholas Flanjack and Mary (Berezansky) Flanjack. She was the wife of Alphonse B.
Fister, whom she married December 27, 1980.
A graduate of Indiana High School, Evelyn worked as a waitress at the Holiday Inn in
Indiana during the 1970s and 80s. Prior to that she lived in Washington, D.C. where she
was the manager at the Coffee Shop at the Shoreham Hotel.
Evelyn enjoyed beach vacations with her husband, Al, and her two sisters, Helen and
Ann. She also loved car rides, whether it was a short trip around town or a longer
journey to North Carolina to visit her niece and great niece. No matter the destination,
Evelyn made every trip special with her quick wit and her gift for storytelling; she was
always ready with a story that brought smiles and laughter to those around her. She also
found joy in simple pleasures such as sewing, ironing and cold Pepsi, which was never
far from her side. Evelyn will be remembered for her joyful spirit, her love of family, and
the stories that will continue to be shared in her memory.
She was a member of St. Bernard of Clairvaux Church in Indiana and was an avid
supporter of the St. Vincent de Paul Society.
In addition to her husband, Al, Evelyn is remembered by her brother, George Flanjack (Mary), Safety Harbor, FL and by the following nieces and nephews: Kimberly Lezanic (Kevin) Dodds, Indiana; Mark Lezanic, Pompano Beach, FL; Monica Flanjack (Ryan) Foster, Hedgesville, WV, George Emerson Flanjack, Berkley Springs, WV and James (Teresa) Huff, McMurray, PA. As well as Al’s children, Al (Elizabeth) Fister Jr, Glen Burnie, MD and Kim (Tom) Fuehrer, Clymer, PA and Al’s brother’s and sister’s, Stephen (Alice) Fister, Harrisburg, PA, Jonathan (Ann Peterson) Fister, Hudson, FL, Pricilla (David) Earnhart, Franklin, PA, Shirley Ann Sisic, Madison, TN.
She was preceded in death by her parents and by the following siblings: Mary (Flanjack) Wahna, Joseph Flanjack, Nicholas Flanjack, Ann (Flanjack) Lezanic and Helen (Flanjack) Huff.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, May 7th at 10:00 AM at St. Bernard of Clairvaux Church, Indiana. A visitation will be held prior to the Mass beginning at 9 AM in the church Narthrax. Celebrant, Rev. Jonathan Urlick, OFM, Cap. Inurnment will be held at St. Bernard Cemetery.
