The state House last week passed and sent to the Senate two bills addressing Pennsylvania’s power grid. One, passed unanimously, would require the use of advanced transmission technologies – also known as ATTs – on all new transmission projects. ATTs include hardware and software that increase the capacity of new and existing lines and reduce outages.
The other bill would modernize and rename the Pennsylvania Energy Development Authority and expand the number and type of projects eligible for state financing, including new electric generation technologies, along with grid technology, stabilization and storage strategies. The new name for the agency would be the Pennsylvania Energy Financing Authority.
The bills were both sent on to the Senate Environmental Resources and Energy Committee.
