It was a close one last night between the Pirates and the Twins but Bryan Reynolds came up big in the bottom of the 9th. Greg Brown reports.
The Pirates and Twins will play again this afternoon. Mitch Keller will start for the Bucs. He’s 5-2 with a 3.64 ERA and 46 strikeouts. The Twins will counter with Bailey Ober, who is 6-2 with a 3.92 ERA and 43 strikeouts. Airtime is 3:40 on WCCS with first pitch scheduled for 4:05.
In other Pirates news, rookie shortstop Konnor Griffin is still day-to-day with tightness in his right arm, but that doesn’t mean he is out of the lineup. He has been put in the Designated Hitter slot for the time being. Pirates senior director of sports medicine Todd Tomczyk said Griffin was examined by team doctors and “some other leading experts in this field and this industry” and is available as a DH and pinch runner. Griffin has started 47 games at shortstop since making his MLB debut in the April 4 home opener.
