The Pirates completed a three-game sweep of the Minnesota Twins on Sunday.
Greg Brown reports.
The Pirates have the day off today to travel to Houston to start a series against the Astros on Tuesday.
Among the roster moves made on Sunday morning, former starter Carmen Mlodzinski was placed on the restricted list after telling the team that he would not be ready to pitch on Sunday. He has publicly expressed disagreement with the decision to move him to the bullpen as Jared Jones made his return. Pirates GM Ben Cherrington said that Mlodzinski did not request a trade, but believes that he will pitch on the upcoming road trip. While Mlodzinski is on the restricted list, he will not be paid.
Shortstop Konnor Griffin is now on the 10 day Injured List with a minor flexor strain in his right forearm. Griffin had gone 4 for 9 with two RBIs as designated hitter the past two games against the Minnesota Twins. Ryan O’Hearn returned ahead of schedule for the Bucs. He had been on the IL since May 17th after straining his right quadriceps. He was back in action Sunday, hitting a homer in the second inning.
