State Senator Joe Pittman showed continued support for AI Data Centers and the Homer City Redevelopment project at a Monday meeting of the Mid-Day Rotary Club.
During his remarks, Pittman said that HCR’s project to build a natural gas-fired power plant and AI Data Center campus in Center Township is one of the state’s most significant economic opportunities. He said that about 1700 workers are now connected with the project, with as many as 6000 expected over the next three years.
Pittman also said that demand for the development of data centers and energy infrastructure is growing rapidly. He told attendees, “If data centers do not come here, they will go somewhere. They may go to other counties, other states or other countries. Our responsibility is to make sure Pennsylvania and this region are positioned to compete, benefit and lead.”
He also talked about maximizing other opportunities including aligning state policy, local infrastructure, workforce development, housing, transportation, and business support systems.
