State police from the Indiana Barracks have released statistics from the Memorial Day driving weekend.
Between May 22nd and 25th, state police were out in full force to make sure roads were safe for travelers. For the Indiana station of Troop A, police investigated four crashes. None of them were fatal or DUI-related, and there were no hit-and-runs were reported. Police conducted 484 traffic stops and wrote out 393 traffic citations along with 292 written warnings. Police made 5 DUI arrests and two were arrested for drug possession.
Police issued 156 speeding tickets, one seatbelt citation, 26 seatbelt warnings and 236 other citations. Police also aided five motorists who were in trouble.
Across the state, 843 crashes were reported by state police over the four-day holiday weekend. Five people were killed on Pennsylvania roads and 129 were hurt. Police arrested 399 people for DUI.
