It was a great pitching matchup last night for Homer City Post 493 and top-ranked Latrobe, which pushed across a first-inning run on an RBI double by Cole Short, then held on the rest of the way for a 1-0 win. Homer City out-hit Latrobe, five to three, with Shane McHugh, Connor James, Nash Budner, Max Drew, and Riley George all collecting singles.
Dom Shimko threw six three-hit innings, striking out four and walking three for Post 493. Short threw all seven for Latrobe, striking out six.
Homer City Post 493 will host Mount Pleasant for a doubleheader today at First Commonwealth Bank Field.
