The Pennsylvania Coal Alliance has announced the recipients of its annual mine safety and reclamation awards, including an award for a mine operator in Indiana County.

Rosebud mining was honored with a 2026 Keystone Mine Safety Award for the Crooked Creek Mine. The award recognizes companies for superior employee safety records based on nonfatal days-lost rates and total man-hours worked. In the Long Continuous Mine category, Rosebud’s Crooked Creek mine was honored for having a 0.00 NFDL rate and over 1.1 million man hours.
The awards were presented by State Representatives Jim Struzzi and Dallas Kephart. In a statement, Struzzi said that the coal industry “continues to demonstrate that safety and environmental stewardship are fundamental to responsible mining,” and the award winners represent the best in the industry.
