The Heritage Conference boys golf championship team title goes to West Shamokin, with a team total of 328.
River Valley’s Brady Doak won the boys individual championship, shooting a three-over 74 at Mannitto Golf Course. West Shamokin’s Carson Carnahan was two strokes off the pace at 76, followed by Homer-Center’s Reece Coy, who shot 79, Homer-Center’s Cole Sorber (81), West Shamokin’s Tanner Cook (83) and Antonio Buffone (84).
For the girls, the individual title goes to River Valley’s Scarlett Fridley, who shot 97. Conemaugh Township’s Emily Purdy was second, at 99, followed by River Valley’s Maddie Twinchek (100), Northern Cambria’s Ava Paronish (102), River Valley’s Alex McDowell (107), and Northern Cambria’s Sarah Neff (108).
The Indiana boys fought down to the wire against Norwin yesterday, with the Knights prevailing by two strokes in a sudden death playoff. Both teams shot 205 at the Indiana Country Club. On the playoff hole, Indiana’s four golfers all shot par five on number one, but the Knight’s shot birdie, bogey, par, and an eagle by match medalist Landon Stoner, who shot 37 in regulation.
The Indians were led by Rudy Lipniskis and Will Steve, who both shot 40. Logan Okopal shot 41 and Chace Force and Beau Raykes each shot 42.
VOLLEYBALL
Indiana swept Albert Gallatin, 3-0 (25-15, 25-15, 25-16).
For Indiana:
Rylin Blystone had 6 kills. Allison Lichtenfels had 5 kills. Cassidy Baron and Claire Brewer added 3 kills each. Addley Schawl had 19 assists and 3 aces. Indiana moves to 2-2 in the section.
Purchase Line took down River Valley 3-0 (25-21, 25-21 and 25-18).
For PL:
Alorra Philips led the offense with 13 kills and also had 10 digs, Emilee Buterbaugh had 10 kills and 3 blocks, and Rylee Mahaffey had 10 kills and 21 service points. Reese Mahaffey had 39 assists and 3 blocks. Leah Nelson led the defensive game with 31 digs. River Valley JV defeated PL in 2 sets.
Conemaugh Township swept Portage, 3-0 (25-16, 25-12, 25-15).
