Four area school districts and two area organizations are being recognized by the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank as recipients of the Child Hunger Hero Awards.
The organization ranks public and private school districts and community sponsors of the Summer Food Service Program and/or Child and Adult Food Care Program across an 11 county area. The levels of gold, sliver and bronze are based on the group’s level of participation across both federal and private child nutrition programs. All award levels are recognized as providing excellent service to kids.
Of the 50 entities that were honored across all three levels, gold-level awards were sent to the Chevy Chase Community Center, the YMCA of Indiana County and the Armstrong School District. Silver awards were presented to Homer-Center and Purchase Line School Districts, while Marion Center received a bronze award.
