Patricia Sophia Kukula, 84, of Heshbon, Pennsylvania, passed away on Friday, October 30, 2026. She was born on September 11, 1942, in Indiana, Pennsylvania, a daughter of the late Stanley and Sophie Kukula.
Patricia was a lifelong resident of Heshbon, having lived in the same family farmhouse since her birth. Following the passing of her parents, she continued living there independently, dedicating herself to the care and upkeep of the home and surrounding property. Fiercely independent, hardworking, and determined, Patricia took tremendous pride in maintaining the farm, tending to her gardens, and caring for the place that had been her home for more than eight decades. In her final days, she stayed with her sister, Marlene, who lovingly helped care for her.
Throughout her professional life, Patricia was employed at FMC in Homer City and Florence Mining in New Florence, retiring from both after many years of dedicated service. Even in retirement, she was rarely one to sit still, always finding something that needed to be done around the farm.
Patricia enjoyed gardening and cheering on her beloved Pittsburgh Steelers and Pittsburgh Penguins. She also had a love for fashion and always enjoyed getting dressed up and looking her best.
An avid follower of current events, Patricia could often be found reading the newspaper or watching the news. She was especially known for her love of talking on the telephone and her eagerness to share the latest happenings with family and friends, often making sure she was the very first to pass along the news. Those familiar phone calls will undoubtedly be missed by those who knew her best.
Patricia held a special place in the lives of her many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. She loved spending time with them, playing with them, and being part of their lives. Her strong-willed personality, tireless work ethic, and unmistakable presence made her a memorable and cherished part of her family.
Patricia is survived by her sister, Marlene Huczko of Indiana, Pennsylvania; her brother, Stanley Kukula and his wife, Jennifer, of Forest Hill, Maryland; and numerous loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Henry Kukula.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Assumption Parish in Coral, Pennsylvania. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
