Indiana County 911 dispatched the three fire departments to Spaghetti Benders in the 500 block of Philadelphia Street at 9:37 PM along with Citizens Ambulance, Indiana Borough Police and the hazmat team.
Indiana Fire Association officials said the fire appears to have started on the exterior back end of the building and spread upwards to the roof line and through the fire escape.
Several apartments above the restaurant were evacuated and three people had to be rescued. Three cats and a pet chameleon were also saved. Those displaced are staying with friends or relatives nearby.

Little to no damage was reported inside the structure, but utilities were cut during the evening. No word yet on the exact cause.
