Russell Eugene Smith, 88, of Indiana, unexpectedly died at his home, Friday, September 29, 2023. Born April 29, 1935 in Blairsville he was a son of the late Harry S. Smith and Sarah May (Brent) Smith. He was the husband of Susan Eileen Smith whom he married June 23, 1995.
Prior to his disability, Russell worked as a handyman, helping people with odd jobs. He always was busy and loved to work with his hands. He tinkered with projects and various things around his house and in his yard. He was a loving husband, father and uncle.
Russell was the last member of his immediate family, preceded in death by his parents and the following 10 brothers and sisters: Mary, Delton and Josephine Smith, Doris Lareda Smith, Alfred Fox Smith, Lester Fox Smith, Luella May Smith, Harry Wilson Smith, William Fredrick Smith and Donald Smith. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Doris Ann Lipsic.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two stepsons, Russell Lee Smith and Michael Alan Smith, both of Indiana. Other surviving family members include his granddaughter, Shannon Lipsic and many nieces and nephews.
A private graveside burial will be held at the Oakland Cemetery in Indiana.
