WalletHub, a personal finance company, released its Best College Towns in America ranking for 2024 and Indiana is on the list.
Indiana was ranked as the 298th best college town in the U.S. and 132nd among small cities. It achieved a total score of 44.34, along with scores of 66 for “wallet friendliness” and 63 for social environment, but it excelled in the Academic and Economic Opportunities category, scoring a 413 in it.
To get a high score in Academic and Economic Opportunities, cities are graded on quality of higher education, earning potential for college graduates, share of part-time jobs, median income of part-time workers, unemployment rate, entrepreneurial activity, the annual change in the share of the population holding a bachelor’s degree or higher, and job-growth rate.
Austin, Texas was the top college town in the U.S., coming in with a total score of 63.24.
