Karen Myra (Williams) Kunkle, 87, Creekside, passed away Monday, December 11, 2023, while at Indiana Square Nursing Facility.
A daughter of Theodore F. Williams and Mary E. (Shields) Williams, she was born on April 29, 1936, in Blairsville, PA.
On March 1, 1958 in Winchester, Virginia, she married John P. Kunkle and together they raised 4 children and shared over 65 years of marriage until his death on October 30, 2023.
Karen was a graduate of Blairsville High School. After her children were older, she was employed at St. Andrews Village for 16 years. Karen loved being outdoors and was an active member of The Indiana Garden Club. She had a knack for growing beautiful flowers and always knew their proper names. She had a fondness for animals, especially her horses and her dogs. She also enjoyed square dancing and card playing. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.
She is survived by her children, Melissa (Kunkle) Ramer of Indiana, PA, John M. (Yolanda) Kunkle, Creekside, David T. (Jill) Kunkle, Creekside, Terry L. Kunkle, Creekside; her 10 grandchildren: Jessica (Mike) Griffiths, Rebecca (William) Shaeffer, Brad (Kayla) Kunkle, Kelli (David) Houser, Joshua (Monica) Kunkle, Zachary (Katrina) Kunkle, Luke Kunkle, Gary (Emily) Kunkle, Alexa Kunkle, Craig (Keisha) Brocious; 16 great grandchildren, and a sister, Laila Grabowsky.
Karen was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John; and brothers Theodore, Henry, William, and Kurtz Williams.
Friends will be received on Friday from 3 to 5 and 6 to 8 pm at the John A Lefdahl Funeral home. An additional hour of viewing will be Saturday from 10 to 11 am with funeral service to immediately follow in the Lefdahl Chapel with Rev Micah McMillen, officiating.
Interment will follow in the Harmony Grove Cemetery.
