Henry Karl Johnson, 87, Indiana, passed away Tuesday, January 9, 2024 at St Andrews Village.
The son of Karl and Borghild (Hovick) Johnson, he was born May 5, 1936 in Glen Cove, Long Island, NY.
Mr. Johnson was a graduate of Hartford College of NY. He attended Philadelphia Lutheran Seminary where he received his degree in the ministry. He also received his Masters Degree at Gettysburg College. Henry served one year as a missionary in Lebanon. He then served as a Lutheran Minister for 52 years at the following churches in St. Johnsville, NY, Gloversville, NY, Hollidaysburg, Marion, Chambersburg, and McConnelsburg..
Surviving is his wife Janet (Ogg) Johnson; stepchildren, Karl (Rhonda) Sprenger, Indiana and Kurt W. (Cristin) Sprenger, Fishersville, VA; step grandchildren, Jacqueline Sprenger, Pittsburgh, Keith Sprenger, Indiana and twins, Alexander and Peter Sprenger, Fishersville, VA; brother, Lennart (Carol) Burlington Flats, NY; and sister, Linnea (Larry) Nelson, Hartwood, NY, and nieces and nephews.
Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by his parents and a son, David.
Friends will be received on Thursday from 6 to 7 p.m. at the John A. Lefdahl Funeral Home with funeral service to immediately follow in the Lefdahl Chapel.
Interment in the McDowell Cemetery will be private.
