Edna Kay (Smathers) Parchinsky, 83 of Indiana, died Sunday, May 19, 2024 at Indiana Regional Medical Center. Born March 11, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Edison Smathers and Mary Audrey (Stewart) Smathers. She was the widow of Frank Parchinsky who died in 2004.
Edna was a 1959 graduate of Indiana High School. She had been a bookkeeper for several businesses in the Indiana area, including: Liggetts Penzoil and Waxler’s Men’s Store. She had also worked at the former dry cleaning business at the Regency Mall.
Her most important job was that of a homemaker, where she cared for her family and helped to raise her two daughters, Robin and Audrey.
Edna enjoyed working outdoors in her flower gardens. She was an animal lover who had a special place in her heart for cats. Edna became the leader of the local Sunbeam Club at the Salvation Army, where she mentored young children, which included her daughters.
She is remembered by: Robin Handy (Don), Mt. Clemens, Michigan and Audrey Michelle Olczak (Mark), Plum Boro. Her grandchildren are: Ian Handy, Pascale Olczak, Tatum Olczak and Harlow Olczak. Edna is also survived by her brothers: John and David Smathers, as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents.
A private burial will be held at Oakland Cemetery. Arrangements are with Rairigh-Bence Funeral Home & Crematory of Indiana.
